  • Raising forest owners awareness about the sustainable management quality policy of forests defined in Aquitaine according to the French PEFC forest certification system (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes)
  • Avail the services of only those forestry companies that adhere to the PEFC technical documentation, good practices codes for silviculture and wood business
  • Internal audits and an annual review of how the Wood division's management system is organised and whether it complies with PEFC certification requirements

  • Partner in setting up the PEFC France and representative on the PEFC-Aquitaine committee
  • Multi-site PEFC control chain certified by the FCBA (Wood cellulose forest technological institute) that handles all the mobilisation and wood conversion activities for the 6 Wood division industrial sites

Promoting PEFC certified products:
  • All its mobilisation and wood conversion activities are handled by a multi-site PEFC control chain
  • 100% of finished products in maritime pine (and fur) produced by GWP are PEFC certified
  • semi-finished products for furniture and packaging industrial manufacturers are guaranteed "made of 85% certified raw material"

 Environmental responsibility:
 
Reduction of the global energetic consumption and main use of biomass (replacing fossil energy by biomass)
 effect on greenhouse gas emissions and other emissions due to combustion
Value of sawing and planing wastes: sales to the paper and pannel manufacturers, or auto-consumption in Gascogne boilers as green energy 
Anticipating on forthcoming standards on air quality regarding VOC emissions (volatile organic compounds)  use of solvent-free products at the aqueous stage at Castets site.

Design of eco-friendly products
"Gascogne's timber frame wall": the first industrial offer with timber frame walls made from maritime pine
  • responds to new codes for eco-friendly construction (reduced environmental impact, landscape integration, and the use of healthy materials
  • offers the possibility of building a positive-energy construction or home, which produces more energy than it consumes
  • contributes to sustainable forest management (PEFC certification)
  • corresponds to future regulatory requirements such as the BBC EFFINERGIE
    label (Low Energy Use Building), for energy consumption of less than 50 kWh/m2.year
