PAPER MEMENTO

Since 1945 French forests have increased in size by
2,5 million hectares.
In France, there is almost 15 million hectares of woodland, around a quarter of France's entire area
Our resource is growing by 25 000 ha/year in area and +35M m3/year in volume.

Useful information
Paper is a biomaterial that promotes the sustainable growth of forests.

Contrary to received wisdom, the paper industry as a whole does not contribute to "deforestation". Instead, it plays an active role in sustainable forest management by exclusively using raw materials that are renewable and actively renewed.
  • 60% of fibers providing from old paper and board recycling
  • 40% of virgin fibers, mainly from by-products to be eliminated: wood barks, sawdust and thinning wood required for forest management.
By replacing fossil energy with biomass, the paper industry has reduced and continues to reduce its CO2 emissions.

Natural kraft paper, a naturally environmentally friendly material

 A natural raw material
  • A 100% renewable and constantly replenished resource originating from sustainably managed forests
  • The “natural fibre”: unbleached pulp, produced from virgin maritime pine fibres harvested from Gascogne's Landes forests
  • A plant certified as managing its forestry resources sustainably and a broad range of 100% PEFC-certified natural kraft papers
 An environmentally responsible manufacturing process
  • An integrated and circular process: regeneration and recovery cycles
  • Protection of the surrounding environment: water savings, autonomous generation of energy, emission reductions
  • Recovery of materials from the process and recycling of internal production waste
 A “green” product
  • Kraft paper, a natural biomaterial: biodegradable, without any detrimental impact on nature or health
  • An ideal monomaterial used to manage the end-of-life of packaging, which is recyclable and recycled to a very large extent
  • Strong mechanical resistance even in lightweight grammages, improving eco-design (reduction in the weight of packaging at source, re-usable packaging...)

As a result, natural kraft paper is a 100% renewable, biodegradable and recyclable eco-product that represents a genuinely environmentally friendly alternative.

 General information
Initiative to promote paper sacks: communication steps around 100% PEFC certified kraft paper sacks, in partnership with customers that produce small- and medium-capacity sacks (creating a logo to be printed on the sacks, writing an environmental argument in favour of paper sacks, issuing press releases) and local communities.
